Salisbury down to No. 7 in poll

MINNEAPOLIS – The Salisbury University baseball team slipped one spot in the latest top 25 poll to No. 7, the website announced on Tuesday.

Salisbury (6-2) took 2-of-3 games from the State University of New York at New Paltz on Saturday and Sunday. The Sea Gulls swept a doubleheader, 5-0 and 4-3, before dropping the final contest, 10-9.

SU earned 444 points in the third poll of the season, finishing ahead of Adrian College (405 points), Kean University (395) and Birmingham Southern College (373) in the top 10.

Wheaton (Mass.) College kept a strong hold on No. 1 for the third consecutive poll, earning 13-of-25 first-place votes and 608 points. The University of St. Thomas claimed two first-place votes and 588 points to stay second, while Marietta College picked up nine first-place nods and 583 points to remain third. The State University of New York at Cortland is fourth with 540 points followed by Christopher Newport University at No. 5 with one first-place vote and 523 points.

Salisbury is back in action on Sunday, hosting Gallaudet University in a doubleheader at noon.
