SALISBURY, Md. – The organization released its 2017 Top 25 preseason poll today. Salisbury University baseball was recognized by and will start the season ranked as the No. 24 team in the nation this year. The Sea Gulls finished last season as the No. 18 ranked team.

Salisbury is coming off a 26-12 season in which it captured its 13th Capital Athletic Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight year and 22nd time in program history. The Sea Gulls would fall to Pennsylvania State University-Berks in the third game of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional 5-2 in 12 innings to fall one game short of a return trip to the NCAA Division III World Series.

Senior Tom LaBriola, who was elected captain by both the coaching staff and the team, will look to help lead the Sea Gulls back to the NCAA Tournament. LaBriola is the first captain during Brohawn's tenure.

The poll was led by State University of New York-Cortland, who the Sea Gulls will face off against on February 18 and 19 at home. The top five was rounded out by Keystone College, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Emory University, and La Roche College.

Salisbury will open its season on February 11 against Gwynedd Mercy University at 1 p.m. at home.
