YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference league office released weekly honors for the week ending April 8. Salisbury University baseball players Jeff Oster and Jay Perry earned conference recognition as the CAC Pitcher of the Week and Co-Player of the Week.
Oster completed another spectacular week for the maroon and gold as he helped the Sea Gulls capture a 10-0 shutout win over the Lions of Pennsylvania State University-Harrisburg. Oster turned in his second complete game performance of the season allowing just four hits and striking out nine of the 29 batters he faced throughout the game. He picked up his fifth win moving his record to a perfect 5-0 this season for Salisbury.
Perry turned in a monster week for the Sea Gulls including an offensive outburst in the series against Penn St.-Harrisburg. He finished the series 4-for-9 with eight RBI including a grand slam in game two and batting averages of .321 and .310 respectively. For the week Perry helped the maroon and gold to a record of 3-0 finishing the week 6-for-13, registering an on-base percentage of .533, a slugging percentage of .923, 10 total RBI, a batting average of .462, and scoring four times himself.
Salisbury hosts Christopher Newport University on Wednesday, April 12 in a pivotal CAC matchup for the top spot in the CAC playoff race. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
