Baseball stays at No. 21 in latest poll; jumps to No. 26 in ABCA poll

SALISBURY, Md. – The organizations and the American Baseball Coaches Association released their weekly national rankings on Tuesday afternoon. Salisbury University baseball was recognized by both organizations, maintaining the No. 21 ranking in the poll and jumping to No. 26 in the ABCA poll.

The Sea Gulls (28-10) went 3-1 over the past week, including a doubleheader sweep of Capital Athletic Conference opponent Penn State University-Harrisburg on Saturday, April 28 to finish the season with a 15-3 conference record and lock up the top seed in this weekend's CAC playoffs.

The College of Wooster jumps into the top spot in the poll, earning 12 first-place votes. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater jumps to No. 2 overall with eight first place votes and Randolph-Macon University climbs one spot to No. 3, collecting four first place votes. Trinity (Texas) University comes in at No. 4 while getting the final first-place vote. CAC rival Christopher Newport University rounds out the top five.

Randolph-Macon moves into the top spot in the ABCA poll with Wooster right behind at No. 2. Rowan University, Trinity (Texas) and Wisconsin-Whitewater round out the top five.

Salisbury hosts the opening round of the CAC tournament beginning on Friday, May 4. A neutral site game between York College of Pennsylvania and Frostburg State University will begin at 9 a.m., with Salisbury playing the loser of that game at 12:30 p.m., and the winner at 4 p.m.
