Baseball jumps to No.15 in latest poll; lands at No. 24 in ABCA poll

SALISBURY, Md. – The organizations and the American Baseball Coaches Association released their weekly national rankings on Tuesday afternoon. Salisbury University was recognized by both organizations, jumping up to No. 15 in the poll and moving up to No. 24 in the ABCA poll.

The Sea Gulls (31-10) went 3-0 in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament this past weekend, which including three complete games by starting pitchers Austin Heenan, Connor Reeves, and Wes Whitlock. Heenan and Reeves each pitched 7-0 victories over Frostburg State University and York College of Pennsylvania, while Whitlock earned an 11-3 victory over York to advance the team into the conference championship series this upcoming weekend.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater jumps into the top spot in the poll, earning nine first-place votes. The College of Wooster drops to No. 2 while also earning nine first-place votes. Randolph-Macon University stays at No. 3 with the final seven first-place votes. Rowan University and the University of Massachusetts-Boston round out the top five.

Randolph-Macon holds on to the top spot in the ABCA poll, with 12 first-place votes. Rowan jumps to No. 2 with three first-place votes, while Wooster falls back a spot to No. 3, earning the final first-place vote. Wisconsin-Whitewater and Massachusetts-Boston round out the top five.

Top-seeded Salisbury will host third seed Penn State University-Harrisburg in the CAC tournament best-of-three championship series at Sea Gull Baseball Stadium beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 11. Game two will take place on Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m., with a game three, if necessary, set for 2 p.m.
