Baseball leaps up to No. 10 in latest poll; up to No. 19 in ABCA poll

SALISBURY, Md. – The organizations and the American Baseball Coaches Association released their weekly national rankings on Tuesday afternoon. Salisbury University was recognized by both organizations, jumping to No. 10 in the poll and moving up to No. 19 in the ABCA poll.

The Sea Gulls (33-10) swept through the Capital Athletic Conference tournament, winning all five of their contests en route to their third straight CAC title. Salisbury scored 49 total runs during the tournament while only surrendering seven, with three of its wins resulting in shutouts.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater remains in the top spot for the second straight week in the poll, receiving 19 of the 25 first-place votes. Rowan University follows, jumping up two spots from No. 4. The University of Massachusetts-Boston, the College of Wooster, and Randolph-Macon University round out the top five.

The ABCA poll is mostly the same at the top, as each of the five teams are the same. The only difference comes at spots four and five, with Randolph-Macon trading places with Wooster for the fourth spot.

Upon earning an automatic bid into the upcoming NCAA tournament, Salisbury was selected as the No. 2 seed for the New York regional hosted by No. 1 seed Cortland State University. The Sea Gulls will take on No. 7 seed St. Joseph's College (Long Island) in their first game of the tournament on Thursday, May 17, with first pitch scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
