GREENSBORO, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings released its 2018 All-Region teams on Tuesday afternoon. Three members of the Salisbury University baseball team earned the organization's recognition, headlined by senior Connor Reeves, who was named the South Region Pitcher of the Year.
Reeves' final season with the maroon and gold was one for the record books, as he finished with a 14-3 record that broke both the Salisbury University and Capital Athletic Conference records for wins in a single season. He also leads all of Division III in wins, as well as WHIP at 0.73. Reeves helped lead the Sea Gulls to their third straight Capital Athletic Conference championship this spring and has also been awarded conference Pitcher of the Year and D3baseball.com South Region Pitcher of the Year. He amassed 113 strikeouts over 120 2/3 innings of work, including six complete games and three shutouts.
Junior Jack Barry was named to the South All-Region Second Team for the second straight year after leading the Sea Gulls with a .413 batting average, eight home runs, and 103 total bases. He also finished second on the team with 62 hits and 47 runs in 40 appearances. Barry has also earned Second Team All-CAC and D3baseball.com Second Team All-South Region honors in 2018
Sophomore Justin Meekins made the ABCA/Rawlings South All-Region Second Team for the first time after leading the Sea Gulls with 64 hits, 28 walks, and 21 stolen bases. He also finished second on the team with 35 runs batted in and third with a .356 batting average. Meekins has also earned First-Team All CAC and D3baseball.com First Team All-South Region honors in 2018.
The 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America Committee.
