Video: Baseball vs Manhattanville
The Salisbury University baseball team returned to the field for its fourth game in three days when it hosted the Manhattanville College Valiants on Sunday afternoon. The Valiants went up 3-0 early, but the Sea Gulls bounced back in the bottom of the second, scoring four runs, including this two-run home run by first baseman Jay Perry. The offense kept rolling in the third inning, tacking on another three runs, including this RBI double center fielder Justin Meekins. Jack Cheney pitched a good game in relief, tossing five innings and striking out five batters along the way. Any hope of a comeback by the Valiants vanished in the eighth inning, when the Gulls tacked on another three runs to their lead. A stolen base by left fielder Kyle Canavan set Perry up for another RBI opportunity, which he made the most of by sending a pitch over the head of the right fielder for a double. Salisbury held on to win 12-6. With the victory, Coach Troy Brohawn earned his 100th career win since being named head coach of the program in 2015. The team returns to action on Tuesday, March 13 when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan University. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
