Video: Baseball vs Cortland St. Gm 2
The No. 18 Salisbury University Baseball team squared off against top-ranked State University of New York at Cortland in game two of a weekend series at Sea Gull Baseball Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Red Dragons answered first, putting up five runs through the first five innings, but the Sea Gulls began to answer back in the bottom of the fifth inning. Matt Padeway drove a one-out single up the middle before advancing to third base on a wild pitch and a groundout to the right side of the infield. Justin Meekins then drove a double to left-center field, scoring Padeway. Meekins would also come home in the inning to shrink the deficit to 5-2. An RBI double by Dillon Waters in the bottom of the sixth allowed Jack Barry to score from third, before a Padeway ground out in the next at-bat led to a run by Troy Miller. Meekins and Jay Perry each hit solo home runs in the bottom of the seventh to come all the way back and tie the game at six runs apiece. The game would go deep into extra innings, but Cortland would get three runs across in the 14th inning and hold its lead for the 9-6 victory over the Sea Gulls. The team will have the next nine days off before traveling to Virginia Wesleyan University on Tuesday, February 27, for its first road matchup of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
