FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University baseball team was picked to finish atop the Capital Athletic Conference standings in 2019, according to the CAC preseason coaches' poll released on Wednesday.
The Sea Gulls received six first-place votes and 48 points to earn the top spot in the poll.
Christopher Newport University received the two remaining first-place votes and 43 points, while Penn State University-Harrisburg landed in third place with 36 points. Frostburg State University tallied 31 points and York College of Pennsylvania 22 points to round out the top five.
Salisbury swept Penn State-Harrisburg, 14-0 and 10-4, in a best-of-three CAC championship series at home last season to capture its third straight conference title and 15th overall.
The Sea Gulls open their 2019 season on Saturday, February 9 when they host Gwynedd Mercy University at 1 p.m., at Sea Gull Baseball Stadium.
