Monaghan named CAC Player of the Week

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly baseball award winners on Monday morning and Salisbury University junior infielder Jimmy Monaghan was named the league's Player of the Week.

Monaghan started all three games as the designated hitter for the No. 17 Sea Gulls, collecting three hits in each start to combine for a robust .818 (9-for-11) batting average. He accounted for a double, a run scored, two RBI and two walks for his efforts. Since taking over the DH role, Monaghan has recorded at least one hit in six of his seven starts on the season while hitting .500 in 24 at-bats.

The baseball team returns to action on Tuesday, March 12 when it hosts the Hood College Blazers. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
