DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference released its monthly baseball award winners for the month of March and Salisbury junior Jimmy Monaghan and freshman Cameron Hyder were both recognized for their performances.
Monaghan was named the south region Player of the Month after combining to hit .439 across 16 starts at designated hitter during March. He also drove in 27 runs, scored 10 more, and recorded nine extra-base hits. Monaghan was instrumental in the team's success, as the Sea Gulls went 14-2 during the stretch.
Hyder earned south region Freshman of the Month after combining to hit .436 while starting in the outfield for 15 of Salisbury's 16 games during March. Hitting primarily in the leadoff spot, Hyder led the Sea Gulls with 24 runs scored, while also driving in another 10 runs at the plate.
Salisbury finishes off a three-game road series against Capital Athletic Conference opponent and top-ranked Christopher Newport University on Sunday, April 7. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
