Salisbury cracks Top 15 in latest D3football.com media rankings

MINNEAPOLIS - The Salisbury University football team moved up two spots to No. 15 in the latest D3football.com media poll released Monday after a weekend Homecoming victory over Division II opponent Lake Erie College, 39-15. 

Salisbury (6-1) is also ranked in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll at No. 19. The new coaches' poll will be released Tuesday.

The Atlantic Central Football Conference had one other member in the polls in Wesley College (4-1) who remained ranked at No. 11 in the D3football.com poll. The Wolverines are ranked No. 14 in the coaches' poll. Wesley defeated the Apprentice School, 48-0, last Saturday in an ACFC game.

The top five teams in the D3football.com poll remained the same as Mount Union tallied 621 points and 21 first-place votes. No. 2 UW-Whitewater, the defending national champions, earned the other four first-place votes. Mary Hardin-Baylor was No. 3 with 581 points. Wheaton (Ill.) stayed at No. 4 and collected 523 points while Muhlenberg (506 points) is fifth.

The D3football.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country and is published weekly.

Salisbury hits the road on Saturday, October 25, as it heads to Leicester, Mass., to take on Becker College at Noon in a non-conference game.
