SALISBURY, Md. - Excellence has been a common theme this week for the Salisbury University football team, as three Sea Gulls received ACFC (Atlantic Central Football Conference) Player of the Week honors on Monday. The accolades come from the players' performances in the maroon and gold's decisive 77-7 victory over The Apprentice School this past Saturday.
Freshman slot back Brandon Norwood (Bear, Del.) garnered ACFC Rookie of the Week honors for his stellar performance against the Builders, as he rushed for 64 yards and scored two touchdowns in the win. ACFC Defensive Co-Player of the Week honors went to defensive lineman Paul Cynewski (Moorestown, N.J.), as the senior had four solo tackles and one forced fumble on Saturday.
Senior defensive back Brandon Hudson (Delmar, Md.), the reigning ACFC Defensive Player of the Week, earned the title of ACFC Special Teams Player of the Week after he returned a 79-yard punt return for a touchdown. The Sea Gulls' victory on Saturday was one for the books, as Salisbury tied the record for most points scored (77) in an Atlantic Central Football Conference football game.
Salisbury will be on the road for its next contest against Lake Erie College on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m., before returning home to host Union College (N.Y.) for Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 24 at noon. Last season, SU defeated Lake Erie, 39-15.
