Griffin, McMurdo tabbed D3Senior Classic preseason All-Americans

SOUTHFIELDS, N.Y. – Salisbury University quarterback Dan Griffin and linebacker Matt McMurdo have been named to the 2012 D3 Senior Classic Preseason All-American Team, the Collegiate Development Football League announced on Sunday.

Griffin earned first-team south offense honors and McMurdo was second-team south defense.

Griffin has run for 2,037 yards and 33 touchdowns and thrown for 1,659 yards and 19 scores in three seasons at Salisbury. He rushed for 907 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2011 and became the first Sea Gulls' quarterback since 1998 to pass for 1,000-plus yards with 1,208 and 15 touchdowns.

McMurdo has made 154 tackles, including 18.5 for loss in his three seasons. He has also broken up six passes, forced one fumble and recovered two others in his career. He was third on the team in solo tackles (27), assisted tackles (46) and total tackles (73) with six for a loss and 2.5 sacks.

The fourth annual D3Senior Classic will be held at the site of the 2012 NCAA Division III championship game at the Salem Civic Center, in Salem, Va., on Dec. 7.
