SALISBURY, Md. – As the Salisbury University football program continues to battle in defense of its 2011 Empire 8 Athletic Conference title, the Salisbury University Varsity Club continues its series of coaches luncheons, featuring Head Football Coach Sherman Wood, this Thursday in the Commons, beginning at noon.
Coach Wood will discuss the team's bye week that has just past as well as look ahead to this week's contest at Buffalo State College, the team's Empire 8 opener.
Also speaking at this week's lunch are two other highly successful Salisbury coaches as Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach Jim Jones and Head Volleyball and Softball Coach Margie Knight will be in attendance.
Jones will speak about his cross country teams, which have their sights set on the Capital Athletic Conference championships in a few weeks, and will be hosting their final home meet of the season this Saturday at Winter Place Park, the Don Cathcart Invitational.
Knight's volleyball team has climbed to No. 20 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, matching the highest mark in program history, set in 2008. The Sea Gulls are searching for their eighth CAC title this season and will host a non-conference tri-match this Saturday against Rivier University and Virginia Wesleyan College.
The Varsity Club Coaches Lunch, is open to the public; the cost of lunch is $8.90 plus tax per adult and $4.57 plus tax for kids aged 6-12. Kids under the age of 5 are free.
