Hamby earns Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Week

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Salisbury University sophomore punter Kyle Hamby has been named Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Hamby helped the Sea Gulls to a come-from-behind 28-17 victory over then-No. 8 St. John Fisher College on Saturday.

Hamby tied a career high with five punts and set another placing three inside the 20-yard line. The Laurel, Md., native averaged 44.6 yards per kick with a long of 51.

The honor is Hamby's second of his career and third overall for SU this season as Tommy Hawks (Sept. 4) and Joey Buckley (Oct. 1) have also been honored by the Empire 8 in 2012. Hamby also claimed the award on Nov. 7, 2011.

No. 9 Salisbury (4-1, 2-0) returns home to host Hartwick College on Saturday for Homecoming. Kickoff at Sea Gull Stadium is 1 p.m.
