Gamble tabbed for D3football Team of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS – Salisbury University sophomore linebacker Steven Gamble has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, the website announced on Wednesday.

Gamble took down St. John Fisher quarterback Tyler Fenti on the Cardinals 6-yard line, forced a fumble and recovered it to set up the go-ahead touchdown as the Sea Gulls completed a 28-17 comeback win against the Cardinals. Gamble also posted a career-high 14 tackles (nine solo). Gamble recorded career-high marks for tackles for loss (2.5) and sacks (1.5), as well.

Through five games this season, Gamble has 20 solo and 35 total tackles to lead Salisbury. He also has tallied 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and the forced fumble and recovery.

The Team of the Week is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, recognizing the top performances at 14 positions from the previous week. The honor is the fourth in the last three weeks the Sea Gulls have been eligible. Issa Diarra (Sept. 18), Joey Buckley and Andre Carter (Oct.2) also claimed the honor this season.

Salisbury (4-1, 2-0 Empire 8) hosts Hartwick College Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium on Homecoming at 1 p.m.
