Mansfield, Hamby named ECAC Division III north all-stars

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Salisbury University senior center Brian Mansfield and sophomore punter Kyle Hamby were named 2012 ECAC Division III North Football All-Stars, the organization announced this week.

Mansfield, SU's starting center for the last two years, was a first-team all-region and first-team All-Empire 8 selection this season. He has helped the Sea Gulls run for the eighth most yards per game in Division III in 2012 at 273.33 and was part of the line that earned Beyond Sports Network Division III Offensive Line of the Week after Salisbury racked up 611 yards of offense, 564 of those and nine touchdowns on the ground in a win against Utica College on Nov. 3.

Hamby, another first-team all-region pick was also the Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Year and a first-team honoree, is fourth in the nation in punting, averaging 42.23 yards per kick. He has placed 20 of 52 punts inside the 20-yard line to lead the league. Hamby booted four punts of at least 60 yards this season, including a school-record-breaking 84-yard bomb in the second round of the NCAA tournament against Widener University. He was named to the Team of the Week twice, E8 Special Teams Player of the Week and BSN Division III Punter of the Week once each this season.

Salisbury (9-3) advanced to the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive season, falling at Widener, 28-7, on Nov. 24.
