Football rises in polls, stands at No. 11 in AFCA poll

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University football team climbed in the polls this week, ranked No. 11 in the American Football Coaches Association Poll, No. 13 in the latest D3football.com poll, and No. 3 in the Eastern Football Network Lambert Poll.

The Sea Gull climbed four spots in the AFCA poll, earning 516 points in a tie with Linfield College, in the D3football.com poll Salisbury moved up two spots, garnering 309 points.

The top five in each of the two polls are identical, with the University of Mount Union sitting atop the polls, followed by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, the University of St. Thomas Minnesota, and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

In the Lambert poll, Johns Hopkins University sits at the top, followed by Western New England University.

Salisbury is joined from the New Jersey Athletic Conference by Christopher Newport University in each poll. The Captains sit at No. 25 in the AFCA poll, No. 22 in the D3football.com poll, and No. 4 in the Lambert poll.

Salisbury takes to the Sea Gull Stadium field on Saturday, October 1 to face The College of New Jersey on Homecoming. The contest will begin at 1 p.m.
