Bernardo named NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week

PITMAN, N.J. – The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners and Salisbury University freshman Patrick Bernardo was named the league's football Defensive Rookie of the Week.

Bernardo helped lead the Sea Gulls to a 41-6 Homecoming win against The College of New Jersey on Saturday, October 1. The Potomac, Maryland native recorded a team-high 10 tackles and a pass breakup as the Sea Gull defense held the Lions to just 143 yards of total offense.

Bernardo has worked his way into a starting role at linebacker this season, having recorded five tackles at Southern Virginia University in the team's third game of the year.

Salisbury is back in action on Saturday, October 8 traveling to Rowan University. The contest against the Profs is slated to kickoff at 2 p.m.
