MINNEAPOLIS – Salisbury University senior guard Riley Cannon was recognized by D3football.com as one of the top offensive linemen in the country as he was named a Third Team All-American. Cannon helped the Sea Gulls earn the honor as one of the top rushing offenses in the nation during the 2016 season.
Cannon helped pave the way to 376.7 rushing yards per game during the season which ranked second in the NCAA – across all divisions, trailing only Washington and Lee University (390.3 yards per game). Salisbury's offensive line also allowed only 1.18 sacks per game, good for 35th in Division III football, while leading the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Cannon earned recognition earlier this month from D3football.com as he was named an All-East First Team honoree. He was just the third Sea Gull to earn the first-team offense honors since the inception of the D3football.com all-region awards. He now joins Alex Smith '11 as the only other offensive linemen in Salisbury history to earn All-American honors.
