GREENWOOD, Ind. – For the second year, senior Alex Potocko has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Football Team representing District II.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher and be a starter or key reserve on his team.
Potocko, Salisbury's primary place kicker in 2017, carries a 4.0 GPA as a physics and mathematics major. He has handled the kicking duties throughout the year, connecting on 37-of-41 extra-point attempts, and making one field goal for 40 points, which ranks third on the team. He has also played a key role on special teams in the field position game, taking 51 of the team's 53 kickoffs, averaging 61.7 yards per boot, including 22 touchbacks.
Potocko was an all-district selection last year and became the first first-team Academic All-American in program history. With his selection today, he is eligible to repeat as an Academic All-American. Those honors will be announced on December 13.
The Sea Gulls close out the 2017 season this Saturday, November 18 when they take on Ithaca College in the Scotty Whitelaw Bowl at the ECAC D3 Football Fest at the University of Delaware. The game will kickoff at 5 p.m.
