Mofor and Philip earn first NJAC weekly honors of the season

PITMAN, N.J. – The New Jersey Athletic Conference released weekly football awards for the week ending September 1 on Sunday morning. The Salisbury University football team saw two players named to the list of honorees as Mike-Ryan Mofor and Jacob Philip each earned conference recognition.

Mofor was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week as he posted a career-night against Albright College in the Sea Gulls 48-14 non-conference win on August 31. Mofor rushed for a career and game-high 237 yards on 10 carries while scoring two touchdowns on runs of 25 and 80 yards. He averaged a 23.7 yards per rush mark, while aiding in a school record breaking performance by the rushing attack as the team racked up 654 yards on the ground.

Philip, who was named the Offensive Rookie of the Week, turned in a solid performance in his collegiate debut racking up 74 yards on two carries, both of which went for touchdowns. Philip scored on runs of 41 and 33 yards to aid in the season opening victory as well as contribute to the record breaking rushing performance.

Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, September 15 when it opens NJAC play against Kean University. The game is set to kickoff at 1 p.m.
