Clewer tabbed CAC Defensive Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. – Salisbury sophomore goalie Rachel Clewer was named Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Clewer made eight saves in the Sea Gulls' win against the State University of New York at Geneseo to claim her second win of the season. The sophomore is now 2-0 in cage with two shutouts.

An Elkton, Md., native, Clewer has now played more minutes in her first weekend as the starter for SU (123) than in her five appearances during her freshman season (77).

Salisbury (2-0) hosts No. 17 Christopher Newport University on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. The contest will be SU's first home appearance.
