Holland named CAC Defensive Player of the Week

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury senior back Amber Holland was named Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Holland made a pair of defensive saves, in the first 35 minutes of play, in the Sea Gulls' win over No. 17 Christopher Newport University. The senior captain has five defensive saves in her career.

The Pocomoke, Md., native also assisted freshman Jessica Crew, who scored the game-winning goal to edge the Captains, 3-2.

This is the second consecutive week Salisbury has claimed CAC Defensive Player of the Week. Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Clewer was honored last Monday, Sept. 3, as the first honoree of the season.

Salisbury will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 15, as the Sea Gulls travel to Grantham, Pa., to play No. 5 Messiah College.
