CHANDLER, Ariz. – After being tied last week at No. 2 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Collegiate National Coaches Poll, the Salisbury University field hockey team is now the lone holder of the No. 2 spot falling just 14 points behind No. 1 The College of New Jersey.
Last week, SU defeated No. 4 Messiah College by a score of 4-1; the Falcons remain in the No. 4 slot this week.
The Sea Gulls claimed 15 first-place votes while the TCNJ Lions received 29. Middlebury College is now ranked third, after being tied with Salisbury last week, with seven first-place votes and Bowdoin College remains in the top five with two first-place votes.
No. 6 Skidmore College received a single first-place vote.
Capital Athletic Conference opponent the University of Mary Washington moved from No. 12 to No. 9. The Sea Gulls will face the Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Sea Gull Stadium.
Salisbury will host No. 7 Catholic University of America, Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Sea Gull Stadium. Game time is 6 p.m.
