YORK, Pa. – Salisbury senior back Amber Holland was named Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Holland anchored a defense that allowed only two goals on 21 shots in two games last week. The Pocomoke, Md., native recorded her third defensive save of the season against Johns Hopkins University, as the Sea Gulls went on to win 5-1 before taking down CAC opponent York (Pa.) College, 3-1.
SU's defense has allowed just six goals in 10 games and has limited its opponents to 68 shots on the year.
This is the second time Holland has been tabbed CAC Defensive Player of the Week and the fifth consecutive week a Sea Gull has garnered a CAC award.
Salisbury will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 10, when it travels to Rowan University to wrap up a four-game road trip before hosting CAC rival No. 7 University of Mary Washington at Sea Gull Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 13.
