GILBERT, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association released its Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll on Tuesday afternoon with the Salisbury University Sea Gulls coming in at No. 9 nationally.
The Sea Gulls split their two matches this past week falling to then No. 18 The Catholic University of America 3-2, which used the victory to climb up six spots to No. 12 with 352 total points. Salisbury rounded out the week with a 7-0 victory over Capital Athletic Conference opponent Frostburg State University.
Salisbury picked up 488 total points this week, 58 points clear of No. 10 Williams College (430), while sitting 44 points behind CAC rival Christopher Newport University, which came in at No. 8 picking up 532 points.
Messiah College remains atop the poll at No.1 with 848 points and picking up 42 first-place votes. Babson College (776) stayed at No. 2 in the poll while Middlebury College (712) moved up three spots from No. 6 to No. 3 with each school claiming one first-place vote. The College of New Jersey (686) moved up one spot to No. 4 while Tufts University (634) dropped a spot to No. 5.
Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, October 11 when it hosts Wesley College. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
