The Sea Gulls (14-2, 5-0 Capital Athletic Conference) earned 716 points in the poll. Last week's No. 2 team, Messiah College, overtook Middlebury College (987 points) as the top team in the nation, earning 995 points; Middlebury suffered its first loss of the season last week, a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Williams College, which moved up to the No. 12 spot from No. 16 as a result.
The No. 3, 4 and 5 teams, Rowan University (982 points), Tufts University (896 points), and The College of New Jersey (772 points), stayed put for the second week in a row.
The Sea Gulls, who have locked up the top seed in the CAC tournament, welcome the University of Mary Washington to Sea Gull Stadium on Wednesday at 6 p.m., in a CAC semifinal round clash. The winner of that game advances to the CAC championship game against the winner of the other semifinal, between second-seeded York College of Pennsylvania and third-seeded Christopher Newport University.
