Three Sea Gulls named to NFHCA Division III All-Region teams

GILBERT, Ariz. – The 2018 season may be over for the Salisbury University field hockey team, but the accolades keep rolling in. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced its 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region teams on Wednesday, and three Sea Gulls were honored.

Juniors Tara Daddio and Jillian Hughes were selected to the All-Region first team in the South Region, and classmate Arielle Johnston was named to the second team.

Daddio netted a team-high 18 goals in 2018 with her 0.90 goals per game ranking in the top 50 in Division III individually. Hughes, a defensive force for the maroon and gold, was named the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year and played a key role in the squad's stingy 0.64 goals against average, which was sixth-best in the nation. Johnston paced the midfield for Salisbury, starting in all 20 games and netting five goals and four assists.

The three players led their Sea Gulls to a 17-3 season which included the program's 21st CAC championship and a trip to the Division III NCAA tournament quarterfinals.
