Hughes named NFHCA first-team All-American

GILBERT, Ariz. – The Salisbury University field hockey team saw one of its own honored this week as the 2018 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America teams were announced.

Junior defender Jillian Hughes, who was named Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year as well as a first-team South Region pick last month, added to her accolades by being named a first-team All American. Hughes has racked up numerous awards throughout her tenure as a Sea Gull, being named first-team All-CAC all three years, as well as earning the CAC Rookie of the Year award in 2016.

Hughes led another impressive defensive year for the Sea Gulls, whose 0.64 goals-against average ranked amongst the top in Division III in 2018. Hughes started in all 20 games for Salisbury, netting three goals -- as well as two game winners -- and four assists along with a defensive save.
