Sea Gulls set for exhibition at Division I UMES on Friday

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team is gearing up for its final tune-up before the start of the 2012-13 season. The Sea Gulls will travel just down Route 13 for an exhibition contest against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, this Friday, Nov. 2, beginning at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available to the public for $5, and can be purchased at the door at the Hytche Center on game night.

"This is an amazing opportunity for our basketball program," Salisbury Head Coach Josh Merkel said. "We have great respect for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and their basketball program. We are honored and excited that Coach Frankie Allen is willing to give our team an opportunity to play."

The two programs are not unfamiliar with each other, having faced off 10 times in the regular season with the Hawks holding a 7-3 edge in the all-time series.

Salisbury will kick off its regular season on Thursday, Nov. 15, hosting another Eastern Shore opponent, Washington (Md.) College, at Maggs Physical Activities Center. Tip-off for the season opener is set for 7:30 p.m.
