Vann named CAC Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week for fourth time

YORK, Pa. – Senior guard Travon Vann has been named CAC Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league announced on Monday.

Vann helped Salisbury (16-7, ­­7-3 CAC) to Capital Athletic Conference wins over Marymount (Va.) University on Wednesday and Frostburg State University in overtime on Saturday, while averaging 22 points, six rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game last week.

He scored a game-high 17 points and added four rebounds, four assists and one steal in a 70-52 victory over the Saints. The win ensured the Sea Gulls a home playoff game in the CAC tournament for the first time since the 2000-01 season.

Vann scored 27 points and had eight rebounds, three assists and two steals on Saturday in a 71-70 win over the Bobcats. He collected his own missed layup and put it back up and in at the overtime buzzer to earn the win.

Vann shares the weekly honor with Frostburg State's Christian Jackson. Vann also claimed CAC Player of the Week on Nov. 19 and 26 as well as Jan. 14.

Salisbury returns to action, hosting 12th-ranked St. Mary's (Md.) College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. SU will honor its senior class as part of pregame Senior Day festivities.
