MiNNEAPOLIS – The Salisbury University men's basketball team jumped into the top five in the nation as D3hoops.com released its latest top 25 poll on Monday night.
The Sea Gulls (8-0, 4-0 Capital Athletic Conference) jumped five spots following their last-second victory against then-No. 5 Christopher Newport University on Saturday night in Maggs Physical Activities Center to take the No. 5 spot from the Captains. Salisbury picked up 480 points in this week's poll, less than 70 points away from No. 4 Marietta College.
Babson College climbed one spot to take over the No. 1 ranking, with 609 points and 15 first-place votes, while Whitman College also moved up one spot to No. 2, with 597 points and nine first-place votes. Amherst College dropped from the top spot to No. 3, still collecting 573 points and the final first-place vote.
Christopher Newport is the only other CAC team in the rankings, now sitting at No. 9 with 422 points.
Salisbury will be in action next in Las Vegas at the D3hoops.com Classic on Wednesday, December 28, taking on Ramapo College, which is receiving votes in the poll.
