GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Information Directors of America released the 2018 men's basketball Academic All-District teams on Thursday afternoon. Salisbury University sophomore Lucas Martin earned recognition from the organization for his outstanding work in the classroom as he was named to the NCAA Division III District 2 Team.
Martin has posted a 4.0 GPA as a Computer Science major at Salisbury. He has played in 23 of the Sea Gulls' 27 games this season, averaging 3.1 points per game on a 45.3 percent mark from the field. Martin has three double-digit point games this season, including a 10-point performance in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament in a 75-68 victory over Wesley College.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot that will include first, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees. The Academic All-America Team will be announced in March.
The Academic All-District teams include student-athletes that are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions including NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools, and other affiliations.
Salisbury returns to action on Thursday, February 22 when it travels to York College of Pennsylvania for a CAC tournament semifinal showdown with the second-seeded Spartans. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
