PERRY, N.Y. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its second Division III Lacrosse Team of the Week on Tuesday afternoon and Salisbury University junior midfielder Corey Gwin was recognized by the organization earning a spot on this week's team.
Gwin completed an impressive week for the Sea Gulls helping them to an 18-6 win over Widener University scoring a career-high six goals in the contest. Gwin tallied three goals in the first half and three in the second, all in the fourth quarter, including three on the man-up unit. Out of nine shots he placed seven on goal to finish the game with a 77.8 shot on goal percentage.
Currently Gwin leads both the team and Capital Athletic Conference with 15 points this season and is tied for the lead in goals with 10. For the season Gwin has totaled 22 shots with 13 of them being on goal to post a shot on goal percentage of 59.1 percent. He has scored three goals on man-up opportunities while scooping up six groundballs.
Gwin was joined on the team by fellow CAC player's Billy Sasso from the No. 5 York College of Pennsylvania and Dylan Rice of Christopher Newport University.
Also making the team was Max Bailey of Stevens Institute of Technology, Sam Cloud of Washington College, Concordia University's Paul Fisher, Kenyon College's Josh Galdari, Walker Hare of No. 3 Rochester Institute of Technology, North Central College's Noah Parrill, and Dickinson College's Tyler Strods.
Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, February 24 when it takes to the road for its first away contest of the season. The Sea Gulls will square off against the No. 13 Bullets of Gettysburg College with face-off set for 1 p.m.
