How we got here

The Sea Gulls completed the regular season with an overall record of 14-3 while posting a 7-1 mark in the CAC. Salisbury enters the CAC tournament as the No. 2 seed after dropping only one conference contest to No. 2 York College of Pennsylvania. Since that loss the maroon and gold posted an unblemished 7-0 record in the conference play including a regular-season finale victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland, 17-4, on Tuesday, April 24.

How they got here

The Captains entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed and earned a trip to the semifinals after a first round victory over the No. 6 seeded University of Mary Washington, 14-7. Christopher Newport finished the regular season with an overall record of 14-3 and 6-2 mark in CAC play. The Captains managed to close out the regular season winning three out of their final four games, which included a regular season finale victory over Wesley College, 20-3.

Last time we met

These two programs met in Newport News, Virginia almost a month ago on April 4 with Salisbury earning a hard fought, 6-5, victory. Griffin Moroney finished the game as the Gulls leading scorer netting a team-best two goals to aid in the victory. However, it was the Sea Gull defense that led the way forcing 15 Captains' turnovers while causing 12 of them. Nine different members of the maroon and gold caused a turnover with defensive midfielder Jeremiah LaClair leading the way with three. Brandon Warren finished the game with 10 saves to pick up his sixth win of the season.

Home "nest" advantage

Salisbury has been unstoppable at home posting an 11-0 mark at Sea Gull Stadium. The Gulls have scored 173 goals at home this season netting an average of 15.73 goals per game. Defensively, the maroon and gold has caused 133 opponent turnovers and have allowed just 63 goals against for an average of 5.72 goals against per game. The Sea Gulls have not allowed a team to get to double-digits at home this season, allowing an opponent team-high of nine against Southern Virginia University back on March 31.

Spartan spark

Since the Sea Gulls lost to York (Pa.) back on March 24 they have embarked on an eight-game win streak which has seen victories over the No. 17 Christopher Newport and No. 5 Cabrini University. While on that win streak Salisbury has netted 138 goals including surpassing the 20-goal mark four times in eight games while allowing just 49 goals against, with the highest goals against being 10 when the Gulls squared off against Mary Washington on April 14.

Up next

The winner will advance to the CAC championship game and face the winner of the No. 1 York (Pa.) and No. 4 Frostburg State University semifinal contest. The game will be played at the highest remaining seed's field on Saturday, May 5 with a game time to be announced.
