FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference released the 2019 men's lacrosse preseason poll on Thursday afternoon and defending conference champion Salisbury University was tabbed as top in the conference heading into the 2019 season.
The Sea Gulls received five of the seven first-place votes and totaled 35 points to earn the top spot in the poll. Salisbury posted a 7-1 mark in CAC play last season avenging its only loss of the regular season in conference play defeating York College of Pennsylvania in the CAC championship to claim its 21st title in program history.
York finished second in the poll, garnering 32 points and two first-place votes. Christopher Newport University enters the season in third, totaling 26 points while Frostburg State University, 16 points, came in at fourth. The University of Mary Washington rounded out the top five earning 15 points.
Southern Virginia University and St. Mary's College of Maryland closed out the poll placing sixth and seventh, respectively.
Salisbury opens its season on Sunday, February 3 when it hosts Berry College at 12 p.m.
