Salisbury holds at No. 2 in USILA week 1 poll

LOUISVILLE – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its Week 1 Warrior and New Balance 2019 Men's Coaches Division III Poll on Wednesday morning and Salisbury University remained at its previous spot of No. 2 in the nation.

The Sea Gulls, who are 2-0 this season, totaled 429 points and picked up four of the total 23 first-place votes. Salisbury has posted victories over now No. 19 University of Lynchburg on Saturday, February 9, 11-9 and Berry College in the season opener, 9-7.  

Wesleyan University remained atop the poll garnering 446 total points and picking up 18 first-place votes. Rochester Institute of Technology remained at No.3 while New England Small College Athletic Conference rivals Tufts University (380) and Amherst College (378) rounded out the top five at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.

Salisbury was joined in the poll by fellow Capital Athletic Conference opponents York College of Pennsylvania, which held at No. 7, while Christopher Newport University stayed put at No. 13.

Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, February 16 when it travels to Chester, Pennsylvania to take on the Pride of Widener University. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
