BALTIMORE – The organization Inside Lacrosse released its Week 1 Division III Men's Lacrosse Media Poll on Wednesday afternoon and Salisbury University held strong at No. 2 in the nation.
The Sea Gulls, who garnered 266 points and two of the total 14 first-place votes, are 2-0 this season after victories over Berry College on February 3 and most recently a thrilling, 11-9, road victory over now No. 17 University of Lynchburg.
The top five remained unchanged with Wesleyan University remaining the top team in the nation picking up 278 points and 12 first-place votes. Rochester Institute of Technology (248) came in at No. 3 while New England Small College Athletic Conference opponents Tufts University (239) and Amherst College (221) came in at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.
Capital Athletic Conference rival York College of Pennsylvania (209) moved up one spot in the poll to No. 6 after its victory over No. 12 Washington & Lee University. Meanwhile, Christopher Newport University fell one spot from No. 13 to No. 14.
Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, February 16 when it travels to Widener University. Faceoff between the Sea Gulls and Pride is set for 1 p.m.
