Men's lacrosse picks up five first-place votes but holds at No. 2 in Media Poll

BALTIMORE – The organization Inside Lacrosse released its Week 3 Media Poll on Thursday morning and Salisbury University held at No. 2 in the country but gained more attention nationally after its victory over now No. 8 Gettysburg College.

The Sea Gulls defeated the visiting, then sixth ranked, Bullets 17-10 on Saturday, February 23 in the Gulls' first top-10 match up of the season. The maroon and gold picked up five of the possible 13 first-place votes while totaling 252 points in this week's poll.

Wesleyan (Conn.) University remained atop the poll picking up the remaining eight first-place votes while just edging out Salisbury in points with 255. The Rochester Institute of Technology totaled 233 points to remain at No. 3 in the nation. Tufts University and Amherst College rounded out the top five totaling 219 and 211 points respectively.

Salisbury was joined in the poll by Capital Athletic Conference opponents York College of Pennsylvania and Christopher Newport University. The Spartans (191) moved up one spot to No. 6 while the Captains (87) slid up a spot to No. 15 in this week's poll.

Salisbury returns to action on Sunday, March 3 when it hosts Ohio Wesleyan University. Faceoff between the Sea Gulls and Battling Bishops is set for 12 p.m.
