HIGHLIGHT VIDEO: No 1 Salisbury vs. No. 20 Christopher Newport
No. 1 Salisbury University squared off against No. 20 Christopher Newport University in Capital Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night at Sea Gull Stadium. The Sea Gulls rolled to a convincing 18-4 victory over the Captains behind big nights from both Brett Malamphy and Pierre Armstrong. Malamphy was exceptional from the faceoff X winning eighty five percent of his faceoffs going 17-of-20 for the contest. He was a perfect 7-of-7 in the first quarter, which led to six goals in the opening frame for the maroon and gold. Two of Salisbury’s first six goals came within a minute or less of Malamphy winning the faceoff. Zach Pompea got the Sea Gulls on the board less than a minute into the contest after the opening faceoff win by Malamphy. Emory Wongus pushed the advantage to 4-0 exactly 30 seconds after Malamphy’s fourth faceoff win of the opening frame. Armstrong found his way in the lacrosse history books as he recorded the 100th point of his career on Wednesday night. He finished with a team-best six points and tied for lead in goals with four. For his career Armstrong now has 39 goals and 61 assists. Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, April 13 when it travels up the road to Washington College for the Charles B. Clark Cup Game against the Shoremen. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
