Brookhart named ECAC South Region's Defensive Player of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced the players of the week for the week ending October 22, and Salisbury University junior goalkeeper Trevor Brookhart was named the South Region Defensive Player of the Week.

Brookhart helped keep Salisbury in the playoff race with a 1-0-1 week. The tie came against first-place Christopher Newport University, in which the only goal Brookhart surrendered came on a penalty kick. The goalkeeper made eight saves in the match, with three coming in overtime, to pick up a huge point in the standings for the Sea Gulls.

In a 1-0 overtime win at Frostburg State University on Saturday, October 21, Brookhart saved all five shots he faced for his fourth shutout of the season. The victory moved the Gulls into the sixth and final playoff spot heading into the regular season finale against Wesley College.

The match against Wesley College is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25. A win against the Wolverines would clinch a Capital Athletic Conference playoff spot for the maroon and gold.
