VIDEO: Men's Soccer vs. Christopher Newport
The Salisbury University men’s soccer team scored the game-winner in the final three minutes for the second match in a row, this time lifting the team 1-0 over Christopher Newport University on Wednesday in Capital Athletic Conference play. The Sea Gulls went the first 88 minutes of the match without a shot on goal, though they did register five shots before the game-winner, including quality chances by Kevin Eriksen and Ryan Spadin. The first, and only, shot on goal didn’t come until the 88:22 mark, as Salisbury quickly took the ball from end to end, culminating in a Robbie Budd header off the cross from Stephen White. Senior Trevor Brookhart recorded a season-high seven saves in net to improve his save percentage to 90.2 on the season, which ranks him first in the CAC. Brookhart was helped by a solid defensive performance in front of him, as Salisbury logged its eighth shutout of the season. The Sea Gulls are on the road for the final two regular season matches, with the first coming on Saturday, October 20 at Southern Virginia University. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
