FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference released weekly men's tennis honors on Tuesday afternoon and Salisbury University sophomore Ian Siew earned conference recognition as he was named the men's tennis Player of the Week.
Siew is off to an 8-0 start for the maroon and gold as the Sea Gulls have raced out to a 5-0 start this season. He has won three of his singles matches at the No. 2 position, winning twice in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 & 6-1, 6-4. Siew has gone to three sets just once so far in 2018 but picked up a 6-0, 4-6, 10-2 win. Playing in the No. 1 singles spot against Virginia Wesleyan, he claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
All four of Siew's doubles victories came at the No. 2 spot alongside classmate Matthew Ryan. The duo secured doubles wins with scores of 8-2, 8-2, 8-3, and 8-6.
Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, March 3 when it travels to Johns Hopkins University. The match between the Sea Gulls and Blue Jays is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.
