Salisbury edges Harford Community College, 5-4

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team edged Harford Community College on Wednesday afternoon, taking a 5-4 victory at the SU Tennis Center.

The teams split the three doubles matches, with Salisbury coming out with the 2-1 advantage. Junior Matthew Ryan and freshman Ryan Santmyer picked up the first point with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles before the Fighting Owls (6-5) were able to square things up with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles over Salisbury juniors Colt Williamson and Ian Siew.

Junior Alec Angradi and Patrick MacLean found themselves down 6-5 in the No. 2 match, but were able to get a late break to take the contest 8-6.

The Sea Gulls (14-4) got the three singles points needed to secure the win with two of the victories coming in three sets. Williamson picked up a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles and senior Kelson Weber took a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4.

Sophomore Stefan Hein got Salisbury's other singles win, claiming a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 5.

Harford got three singles points with Angradi falling at No. 1 by a 6-3, 6-4 score, Siew taking a 6-1, 6-2 defeat at No. 2 and freshman Brad Pappalardo falling at No. 6 by a 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 11-9 score.

The Sea Gulls return to action on Sunday, April 14 hosting Stevenson University at 10:30 a.m., and No. 35 Christopher Newport University at 2 p.m.
