Sea Gulls fall in meet against Washington (Md.) College
SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University men's and women's swim teams returned home on Wednesday night for a meet against Washington (Md.) College, falling 111.5-93.5 for the women and 123-80 for the men.
Salisbury saw its first two first-place finishes in the men's 50-meter freestyle and the women's 200-meter individual medley. Freshman Will Gough won the men's event in 24.49, while freshman Nikki Schult brought home the win for the women in 2:39.48.
Gough led the men's team with two first-place finishes, notching the second one in the 100-meter freestyle with at time of 56.47.
Senior Sarah Ault and sophomore Taylor Merget both finished first in an event for the women's team, along with Schult's win. Ault won the 100-meter butterfly in 1:09.51, while Merget finished first in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:13.19.
The Sea Gull men and women finished strong with wins in the final events, the men's and women's 200-meter freestyle relay. The women's team of Ault, Merget, freshman Andria Moyer and junior Julie Mstowski finished in 2:01.67. Sophomore Rich Ambrose, senior Paul Zoli, senior Eric Robichaud and freshman Jeremy Powell won for the men in 1:43.91.
Salisbury will be in action again on Saturday as it takes on Capital Athletic Conference opponent Marymount (Va.) University at 2 p.m.
