Track & field seniors Chris Barnard and Jennifer Houghton were each named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Cross Country/Track & Field teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, on Thursday.

    Salisbury University junior Chelsea Tavik entered Sunday’s shot put competition at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships as the second-seeded student-athlete. Through the first round of competition, she was in first place before a career throw by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Breanna Strupp would land Tavik in a second-place finish with a mark of 47’ 5”.

The Sea Gulls, in the newly named Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet, earned team victories on both the men’s and women’s sides and saw four top-three finishes in the 5,000-meter run, named in honor of former teammate Steven Berstler, who passed away this past December.
