FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference released weekly track & field honors on Tuesday afternoon and Salisbury University track & field senior Duncan Ferrin earned conference recognition as he was named Co-Field Athlete of the Week for his exceptional performance at the Penn Relays.
For the second straight week Ferrin posted his name in the maroon and gold record book putting up a new mark in the hammer throw. Ferrin recorded a throw of 191' 4", which breaks his previous mark of 190' that he set just one week prior.
Ferrin's throw not only broke the Salisbury record but earned him a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw competition and a place among the nation's best athlete. His finish edged out competitors from Division I programs such as University of Pennsylvania and Eastern Michigan University while finishing just two feet short of the fifth-place finisher Luke Grodeska from Pennsylvania State University.
Salisbury returns to action on Friday, May 4 when it opens and hosts the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference Championships at the Salisbury Track & Field Complex. The meet is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
